Currently October

Hi!

I'm going to ignore the fact that it's already October 3rd at 8:32pm and pretend that I was waiting anxiously for the new amazing Farley Currently on September 30th at 11:59.  In all honesty, I was, I just forgot!  My life is so incredibly busy (like everyone else's) and it slipped away from me.

Along the same train of thought, I have these great and lofty goals of blogging about all the wonderful things I'm doing in my classroom, and then I get home and life takes over.  I'm practically halfway through my sun/earth/moon science unit and I haven't said a peep!  *major slacker alert*  I'll try to be better and share some tricks and freebies more often.  I'm working on anchor charts for figurative language at the moment, so stay tuned for that!

And here's my currently...

loving: Can someone tell me how I have been living the past 29 years without an Erin Condren planner?! I mean, it's amazing.  I can keep track of everything home and school and she's really thought of everything.  Erin now has a special place in my heart, and a loyal customer.

thinking: no words necessary.  These knots in my shoulders will be gonzo in a couple short days!!

wanting: duh... there's never enough time to get things done! I see these poor teachers go into work on Sat and Sun and it's i.n.s.a.n.e.  We just need another day.  At least to do laundry, vacuum, and grocery shop (maybe a late opening Monday? I'll take it...)

needing: There is so much paperwork piled on my desk it's crazy!  I need someone to follow me and file and just get rid of it!

trick:  I blogged about epd86.org the other day, and you can find that here.  It's got so many great games for all grade levels that are CCSS aligned. I had my students play the math games and they had a blast!
fcrr.org is Florida Center for Reading and Research.  Check out their Student Center Activities for a plethora of graphic organizers for all grade levels.  There are so many pre-made centers that can easily be adapted for the CCSS and the best part--they're all print ready.  Can't ask for anything more!

{Sidenote}  K5 Learning has an online reading and math program for kindergarten to grade 5 students.  I've been given a 6 week free trial to test and write a review of their program.  If you are a blogger, you may want to check out their  open invitation to write an online learning review of their program. - See more at: http://www.k5learning.com/review-k5?sid=18132#sthash.eO95ikst.dpuf

Happy October friends!

  2. Three day weekends have been my dream for as long as I've been working. We actually have a four day weekend next week for Fall Break and I'm super duper excited! Then there is also a Tropical Storm also making its way slowly to Florida...of course on the weekend. Glad you found the FCRR activities. We've been using those for several years here in Florida. I did a Make and Take workshop one summer with those activities.
